Pontotoc County Literacy Coalition
The Pontotoc County Literacy Coalition is a nonprofit organization devoted to solving the
literacy crisis in Pontotoc County and networking with other organizations at the local, state, and national levels to eradicate
illiteracy in the United States.
We are a small organization which is funded generously by the general public as well
as by various grant programs, namely the ODL Community Literacy Grant presented to us by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries
Literacy Resource Office and also the Dollar General Literacy Foundation grant.
Our office is located on the second
floor of the Ada Public Library. While Program Director Caleb Holton is only a part-time employee of the organization, the
office is open for tutoring from 8:00-5:00, Monday through Friday. Special after-hours appointments are available for tutoring
as well depending on the student's and tutor's schedules.
We offer tutoring services in the fields of Adult Basic Education,
English as a Second Language, Citizenship Training, GED Preparation, Math Education, Science Education, and Computer Literacy.
All of our services are provided free of charge to our clients although the purchase of some workbooks or other materials
may be deemed necessary.
If you or a loved one needs our services, please contact Caleb at 580.436.5443 and he will
help you schedule an appointment for an intake assessment and work with you to match you up with a tutor suitable to your
needs and personality.
If you would like to sign up to be a volunteer tutor, please contact Caleb at 580.436.5443 to
schedule an appointment for an interview. There is a required 6-8 hour training session, but most of it can be done at home
with the videotapes. We would love to have you!
